An optional assignment in the City & Guilds Level 3 curriculum.
Page edges are another surface where the binder's creativity can shine but they are often overlooked. They often act as an important protection barrier as well as being a key design element of a fine binding. In this workshop, Kate will show you how to achieve the perfect glass smooth finish to your edges and work through a variety of decorative finishes, from basic sprinkling and sponging through graphite, marbling, paste, gauffering and gold leaf.
All images show work carried out by students on the course (with permission).

We must be informed of any cancellations at least two weeks prior to the commencement of the course. If we are not informed in this time, a £50.00 administration charge will be levied up to 48 hours before the commencement of the course. After this time no refunds will be given. Whilst every effort is made to avoid cancellation or postponement of courses. Shepherds Bookbinders Ltd reserve the right to cancel or postpone a course, and will endeavour to give at least 5 working days' notice before the start date. In these circumstances a full refund will be made, but we cannot be held responsible for any consequential loss.
